About the Scheme
Brief
A flagship initiative by the Government of India designed to provide one year of practical On-the-Job Training (OJT) to fresh graduates, diploma holders, and vocational certificate holders in engineering and non-engineering fields. It bridges the gap between academic education and industry requirements, improving employability by providing practical experience.
Objective
- To provide industry-based, practical training to students
- To enhance the employability of youth by making them industry-ready
- To create a skilled, qualified workforce
- To provide a stipend during the training period
Eligibility Criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering/Technology, Architecture, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, or 10+2 Vocational pass-outs
- Indian national
- Minimum 16 years (often 18 for hazardous industries)
- Must not have prior work experience or have undergone previous apprenticeship training
- Must have passed from a recognized/AICTE-approved institution
Benefits
- For Students:
i. Monthly stipend paid by the employer (50% reimbursed by the Central Government)
ii. Engineering Graduates (₹4,984), Technicians/Diploma (₹3,542), Vocational (₹2,758)
iii. Certificate of Proficiency issued by the Govt. of India, recognized as one-year work experience
- For Employers:
i. 50% of the stipend reimbursed by the Government
ii. Exemption from Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and ESI contributions
iii. Access to trained manpower with potential for permanent employment
