About the Scheme

Brief
DCIS provides financial assistance and an innovation ecosystem for research, design, and manufacturing in the digital communications sector. It focuses on bridging the gap between R&D and commercialization by supporting projects that have reached at least the Proof of Concept (PoC) level.

Objective
- To support in the complete value chain from research and IPR creation to pilot projects and manufacturing
- To position India as a leading producer of telecom equipment and a center for digital services
- To develop national standards and contribute to global telecom standardization bodies
- To reducing dependency on imported communication equipment and technologies
- To create collaborative links between academia, research institutes, startups, and industry

Eligibility Criteria
- Startups: Must be recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT)
- MSMEs: Indian companies incorporated under the Companies Act 1956/2013 with over 51% Indian shareholding and headquarters in India
- Individual Innovators: Encouraged to apply, but must register as a Startup or MSME before funds are released
- Consortiums: Partnerships between organizations, registered societies, and academia are also eligible
- Project Readiness: Proposals must have a demonstrable prototype or PoC; ideation-stage projects are generally not supported

Benefits
- Financial Grants:
i. Startups: Up to ₹50 Lakhs
ii. MSMEs: Up to ₹2 Crore
iii. High-Value Technology: Projects requiring significant funding (excluding academia) can receive up to ₹10 Crore

- Mentorship & Advisory: Access to technical advisory and mentorship throughout the project duration
- Infrastructure & Testing: Support for product trials and validation of prototypes
- Market Exposure: Assistance with market entry and scaling up successful innovations
