About the Scheme
Brief
The Chief Ministers Meritorious Sportsperson Scholarship Programme is a state-funded initiative designed to provide elite athlete scholarships. It aims to support, nurture, and empower talented able-bodied and para-athletes to achieve excellence in sports, ensuring they have access to training, equipment, and financial support.
Objectives
- To encourage and support athletes who have achieved high performance at state and national levels
- To provide a comprehensive development ecosystem, including sports science, recovery management, and elite coaching
- To support para-athletes through specialized resources and inclusion in sports
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident/domicile of the respective state (e.g., Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe - APST)
- Generally between 13 to 24 years, though for para-athletes, there may be no upper age limit
- Must have achieved a podium finish (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) or participated in recognized state-level or higher sports events
- Must have a valid PCI (Paralympic Committee of India) classification certificate
