About the Scheme

Brief
Shakti Sadan is an Integrated Relief and Rehabilitation Home designed for women in distress and difficult circumstances. It was formed by merging two earlier schemes: Swadhar Greh (for women in difficult circumstances) and Ujjawala Homes (for prevention of trafficking).

Objectives
To provide a safe, enabling environment for women in distress, helping them overcome adverse situations through comprehensive support and long-term rehabilitation

Eligibility Criteria
- Women in distress, including those who are victims of trafficking or violence
- Vulnerable groups such as single women, widows, divorcees, and those separated from their families
- Accompanied children: Unmarried girls of any age and boys up to 12 years old may stay with their mothers
- Stay duration: Women can typically stay for up to 3 years (or longer in specific cases as approved by authorities)

 Benefits
- Basic Needs: Provision of shelter, nutritious food, and clothing
- Health & Wellness: Access to primary healthcare, psychological counselling, and mental health support
- Rehabilitation: Vocational training to develop skills for economic independence
- Financial Inclusion: Assistance in opening bank accounts and access to social security benefits
- Direct Support: A monthly deposit of ₹500 is made into the residents bank account, which acts as seed money when they leave the home
